Rolespecific skillsets:

General Function:

·        The Project Manager has primaryresponsibility for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project theyare assigned.

·        He/she is responsible for identifyingkey resources and providing the direction required for meeting the projectobjectives.

·        He/she is also responsible for ensuringappropriate management, customer and supplier involvement throughout the lifeof the project.

·        Qualifications and skills of the ProjectManager include an ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork,an ability to communicate effectively with senior management, and a clearvision of what determines a successful product for the customer and for thecompany.

Characteristic Duties andResponsibilities:

Plan the project

·        Define the scope of the project incollaboration with senior management

·        Create a detailed work plan whichidentifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete theproject

·        Determine the resources (time, money,equipment, etc) required to complete the project

·        Develop a schedule for projectcompletion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities

·        Review the project schedule with seniormanagement and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities;revise the schedule as required

·        Determine the objectives and measuresupon which the project will be evaluated at its completion

 

Staff the project

·        In consultation with the appropriatemanager, recruit, interview and select staff and/or volunteers with appropriateskills for the project activities

·        Manage project staff and/or volunteersaccording to the established policies and practices of the organization

·        Ensure that personnel files are properlymaintained and kept confidential

·        Ensure that all project personnelreceive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project

Implement the project

·        Execute the project according to theproject plan

·        Develop forms and records to documentproject activities

·        Set up files to ensure that all projectinformation is appropriately documented and secured

·        Monitor the progress of the project andmake adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of theproject

·        Establish a communication schedule toupdate client including appropriate staff in the organization on the progressof the project

·        Review the quality of the work completedwith the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the projectstandards

Control the project

·        Write reports on the project formanagement

·        Monitor and approve all budgeted projectexpenditures

·        Monitor project progress to seniormanagement and client on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)

·        Ensure that all financial and timesheetrelated records for the project are up to date
