Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) are preferred by domestic and foreign high roller investors in India. The high net worth individuals (HNI) and private equity (PE) investors opt for investing in AIFs due to their exponential returns. Apart from their high-risk high return characteristic, AIFs also propel innovation across sectors as the required investment amount is large. Structured as Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), trusts, companies, or corporate bodies, AIFS are approved and regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and monitored by SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulation 2012.
