Hollister is a US-based company which manufacture advance medical products for Ostomy Care, including two strong global brands – Hollister Ostomy and Dansac Ostomy. Hollister sought assistance to evaluate the market attractiveness of the Ostomy Market in India and whether there is a need to replace their existing distributor in the market​

Our Approach

  • Segmented the market by different types of Ostomy (Colostomy, Ileostomy and Urostomy), regional distribution and number of ostomates in India. Analyzed both private and public hospitals providing stoma care needs in India.​
  • Conducted more than 50 telephonic interviews with local healthcare providers, doctors, surgeons, patients and suppliers of ostomy bags and related accessories across major states like Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai and kore. The interviews focused on understanding the need of patients, prices, awareness amongst general people.​
  • Conducted 10 face-to-face interviews with key stakeholders, including head distribution of Coloplast and Convatec and few doctors involved in stoma surgeries​
  • Projected the growth rate of the ostomy market over the next five years, considering factors such as the expected rise in colon cancer cases, healthcare infrastructure development, and regulatory support​

  • We recommended that the client should focus more on target-based strategy in marketing products amongst patients directly​
  • We also advise the client to utilize their existing manufacturing facility and using GEM portal to further expand in the industry ​
  • The business models of competitors such as Coloplast and Convatec helped client understand competitors’ strategy and could further utilize the same for their own business​
