Vietnam’s adhesives and sealants market is expanding alongside electronics, furniture, footwear, packaging, construction, automotive components, and other export-oriented manufacturing industries. These materials are widely used for laminating, structural bonding, woodworking, footwear assembly, electronics, packaging, glazing, and weather sealing. Vietnam’s processing and manufacturing sector grew 10.6% in 2025, while overall industrial production increased 9.5%. Manufactured exports reached approximately US$297.2 billion during the first nine months of 2025, representing 85.2% of total merchandise exports and supporting demand for industrial bonding solutions.

Drivers Shaping Vietnam’s Adhesives and Sealants Industry

Electronics Manufacturing Expands Specialty Adhesive Demand

Electronics manufacturing has become an important application area for specialty adhesives used in component assembly, encapsulation, thermal management, display bonding, and protective applications. During the first half of 2025, exports of computers, electronic products, and components reached approximately US$38.4 billion, increasing 39.7% year on year. As Vietnam strengthens its electronics manufacturing ecosystem, suppliers offering high-purity, heat-resistant, electrically insulating, and fast-curing formulations can address increasingly sophisticated production requirements.

Furniture and Footwear Support High-Volume Consumption

Vietnam’s large furniture and footwear industries create substantial demand for polyurethane, hot-melt, water-based, and other industrial adhesives. Wood and wood-product exports reached about US$6.8 billion in the first half of 2025, rising 8.6%, while footwear exports totaled roughly US$9.75 billion, increasing 11.5%. These industries require reliable bonding performance while increasingly emphasizing lower emissions and production efficiency.

Packaging and Export Manufacturing Broaden Applications

Vietnam’s manufactured exports reached US$297.2 billion in the first nine months of 2025, growing 16.7%. Expansion in packaged consumer goods, machinery, textiles, electronics, and food processing supports demand for laminating, pressure-sensitive, carton-sealing, labeling, and industrial assembly adhesives.

Government Policies Supporting Vietnam’s Adhesives and Sealants Market

Vietnam continues to promote manufacturing, export diversification, higher-value production, and deeper participation in global supply chains. Government trade policy supports exporters through market-access initiatives and extensive free-trade agreements, while manufacturing remains a central economic growth engine. Vietnam’s total merchandise exports reached approximately US$475 billion in 2025, increasing 17% from the previous year. These policies indirectly strengthen demand for advanced bonding and sealing materials.

Competitive Dynamics Across Vietnam’s Adhesives and Sealants Industry

Vietnam’s adhesives and sealants industry includes multinational chemical companies, regional manufacturers, local formulators, importers, and specialized distributors. Competition focuses on bonding strength, curing speed, heat and moisture resistance, VOC performance, price, product consistency, and technical assistance. International suppliers compete strongly in electronics and high-performance industrial applications, while local and regional companies benefit from competitive pricing, customized formulations, distribution networks, and proximity to manufacturing customers.

Market Challenges Affecting Vietnam’s Adhesives and Sealants Industry

Dependence on Imported Specialty Raw Materials

Manufacturers remain exposed to imported resins, polymers, additives, silicones, isocyanates, and other specialty inputs. Currency fluctuations, freight costs, and regional supply disruptions can therefore affect production costs and pricing stability.

Rising Sustainability and Quality Requirements

Export-oriented manufacturers increasingly require low-VOC, solvent-free, water-based, and recyclable-compatible adhesive technologies. Suppliers must improve environmental performance while maintaining bonding strength, curing speed, durability, heat resistance, and cost competitiveness.

Future Outlook

As Vietnam moves further toward higher-value manufacturing and export-led industrial development, adhesives and sealants should gain importance across electronics, furniture, footwear, packaging, construction, and automotive components. Processing and manufacturing already expanded 10.6% in 2025, while manufactured goods account for more than 85% of merchandise exports. In the coming years, demand should increasingly shift toward low-emission, fast-curing, heat-resistant, and application-specific products. Suppliers combining localized production, technical service, consistent quality, and resilient sourcing should be positioned to capture emerging opportunities.

Consultants at Nexdigm, in their latest publication “Vietnam Adhesives and Sealants Market Outlook to 2035,” analyze the sector By Adhesive Resin Types (Polyurethane Adhesives, Epoxy, Acrylic and Silicone Adhesives), By Adhesives Technology (Water-Borne, Solvent Borne and UV Curved Adhesives).

Nexdigm suggests that businesses in the Vietnam Adhesives and Sealants Industry should strengthen technical support, expand local manufacturing, and target construction, automotive, packaging, electronics, and renewable-energy applications to capture emerging growth opportunities.
