About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Real
Estate Underwriting Trainer with comprehensive end‑to‑end underwriting expertise
and strong training delivery capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess
deep knowledge of the 4 C’s of Underwriting, mortgage processes, Commercial
Real Estate (CRE) fundamentals, financial modelling, and mortgage documentation
across both residential and commercial domains. The trainer must excel in
instructional design, communication, stakeholder management, and technical
training to support seamless capability building and process transitions.
Key
Responsibilities
1.
Training
Delivery & Facilitation
- Conduct
training programs on Mortgage Underwriting for both Residential and Commercial
loans, covering all 4 C’s of Underwriting—Credit, Capacity, Collateral, and
Capital.
- Deliver
effective training on all mortgage‑related documents,
underwriting workflows, and guideline interpretation.
- Conduct
training on Financial Modelling, including assumptions, cash flows, valuation
approaches, and model review.
- Facilitate
new hire training, cross-skilling, upskilling, and refresher programs.
- Lead
transition calls and knowledge transfer discussions with strong communication
and presentation skills.
- Deliver
specialized training on Commercial Real Estate (CRE) including:
o
All
4 Food Groups of CRE (Multifamily, Office, Industrial, Retail).
o
CRE
underwriting principles and risk assessment.
o
CRE
Appraisal Review methodologies and best practices.
2.
Underwriting
Expertise
- Provide
end-to-end subject matter expertise on mortgage underwriting processes.
- Enable
learners to interpret and analyze financial statements, perform income
spreading, and assess borrower risk.
- Explain
guidelines, risk indicators, deal structures, and document interpretation.
3.
Content
Development & Instructional Design
- Create
high-quality training materials, including presentations, SOPs, reference
guides, assessments, and case studies.
- Apply
modern instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick
Model) to enhance training effectiveness.
- Maintain,
update, and improve existing training content in alignment with operational
changes.
4.
Tools
& Technology
- Utilize
Learning Management System (LMS) tools for training delivery, tracking,
feedback, and reporting.
- Develop
and deliver Advanced Excel training, including functions, formulas, dashboards,
and data analysis techniques.
- Leverage
digital learning tools for interactive sessions.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Must-Have
-
Proven
experience as an end-to-end Mortgage Underwriter (Residential & Commercial).
- Strong
understanding of the 4 C’s of Underwriting.
- Sound
understanding of CRE Food Groups and CRE Appraisal Review processes.
- Certified
in Financial Modeling, with the ability to train teams on modeling concepts and
application.
- Excellent
command over mortgage documents and underwriting documentation reviews.
- Advanced
Excel proficiency.
- Experience
developing training content and using LMS tools.
- Effective
communication and facilitation skills.
Preferred
-
Certification
in Instructional Design, Training & Development, or Mortgage Underwriting.
- Experience
handling transitions, client interactions, and large training batches.

Understanding
of U.S. mortgage regulatory requirements (if applicable).
